What this means for insurance agents
Every pending cancellation is a motor carrier that must replace coverage before its date or park its trucks — a buyer with a federal deadline and no incumbent agent defending the account. The states and insurers above show where that demand is concentrated this month. To work it, you need the filings the day they land: how trucking insurance leads work, or get the daily list for your state.
Methodology
Source: public FMCSA / MOTUS insurance datasets on the U.S. DOT open-data portal, ingested daily. We count carriers whose insurer has filed a cancellation notice (required at least 30 days in advance under 49 CFR 387.313(d)) taking effect within the next 90 days. Figures are limited to covered states and business-entity carriers, matching what the product delivers, and are aggregate only — no individual carrier is identified. Longitudinal month-over-month trends will appear here as the daily feed accumulates history; today’s figures are a current snapshot as of the update date above.

Frequently asked questions
How many trucking insurance cancellations are pending right now?
As of June 2026, 2,826 motor carriers in covered states have a pending FMCSA insurance cancellation on file — an insurer-filed notice that coverage will end within the next 90 days. 2,203 of them lose coverage within 15 days.
Which state has the most trucking insurance cancellations?
Texas leads with 504 pending cancellations (17.8% of the national total), followed by Florida and Illinois. Volume roughly tracks each state's share of registered motor carriers.
Where does this data come from?
Public U.S. government records — the FMCSA / MOTUS insurance datasets on the U.S. DOT open-data portal (Socrata). Under 49 CFR 387.313(d) an insurer must notify FMCSA at least 30 days before cancelling a carrier's required coverage, so these filings are public the day they land. We aggregate them; we publish no individual carrier data here.
How often is this updated?
